I had often associated the quote "to whom much is given, much is expected" with only the aspects of economic advantage.  While that may be true incidents in the last few days had me drawn to serious discussions in confidence with my higher up where he practically alluded that unfortunately there are things we have to do because others just cannot wrap their minds around it.  I had been told this for the many years that I had been working.  Sure there are perks to being given the trust and thus power, however it can get frustrating at times to be expected to be the more understanding and help those who are simply lacking in aptitude.  Why can't people just solve problems instead of making them more complicated?  Unfortunately that's not how the world works as witnessed by the many troubles with which we continue to subject ourselves.

The fears of Covid 19 had everyone including myself in a bit of worry.  In the last month I had already cancelled and re-booked flights and more recently the ever worry-free Viking has been showing signs of concern as well.  In the last few months the conversations surrounding our upcoming trip were all about acquiring the necessities.  There had been dismissals of the Covid 19 situation whenever I brought it up in the past primarily as the virus had been tracked as only affecting a limited group of countries including mine.  As the spread reached his shores and the infection rates more rapid than ours, the mood changed.  I appreciate how he had been trying his best to deny concerns but the recent conversations gave him away.  While at the beginning of the week he had been the one to comfort me, towards the later part I had to pick up the slack and be the one to reassure him that we will be fine.  And for the first time he said he missed me.  Whereas I had been carefree about letting out compliments in countless daily text exchanges, he had been very very careful to not express any hint of flirtation.  Somehow this week he slipped.  And it was simply adorable.
